Four Against How Many? Do I Have Enough Potions?
How Can Sky Stand The Ocean? It's Cold!!

29th of White River

Salvator demands that I join the group, instead of sneaking along behind him. The group breaks up, as a messenger bird comes out and sends some of us to a small fishing village called Cabbel. This group is just Kassegore, Larissa, Salvator and I on this mission.

Kassegore is grumpy about the fact that we need to keep saving the world. It’s pointed out that a lot of people want special crystals.
Kassegore ponders out-loud, “Then if I want to stop fighting, I need to leave the planet?”
We all look confused as we don’t know what that means and then someone says, “Yes”

On the way to the village I keep attempting to get a ride from Kassegore, who finally says, “Turn off the lights first!” This causes Salvator and Larissa to start laughing. It’s not my fault if they didn’t understand that Kassegore said that I could only be on his back if he couldn’t see. I sigh at the two and then sign at Salvator if he wants me to scout, Salvator nods and I head off.

As I head out I hear Kassegore start to complain about the lack of knowledge from command and Larissa replying, “Didn’t we go over this before?”
Kassegore, “Yes, we keep going back to it!”
Larissa, “Move on, we don’t need to keep going over this.”

I manage to get to the village and have a look around, it’s small but very spread out. Everything looks subdue. There is one building that has several guards around it that makes the normal villagers keep away from it. I head back to let the others know.

After telling Salvator about what I saw it is decided that Salvator and Larissa will be slowly walking in to town and making their way to the guarded building and Kassegore was to use the water to get close before making an entrance. Salvator wanted me to sneak into a position so that I could be Kassegore’s backup.

We head out and things start off well, until I attempt to land on a building. Two archers spring out from the rubble, and two more on the guarded building spring out as well. I notice that Salvator and Larissa have just made it to the edge of the village, as there are many villagers in between them and me, I can’t head towards them. _ I find out later that it was a good thing as they were under attack at this point as well._

I shoot one, managing to take it out. I then make a dive, to let the closest companion know something is wrong, straight into the ocean. I manage to make it to Kassegore, and finding that my wings aren’t helpful under water, hold as still as I can.

After the fact I find out that Salvator had managed to throw off the previous hit and heal himself.
This is happening as Kassegore grabs me and starts to swim in another direction.

The dive I did, threw off the archers on the rooftops. Then those on Salvator and Larissa’s side, one switches to a sword, and another attempts to attack Larissa.

Larissa then manages to throw off the previous hit and smacks the one that just attacked her with her staff, taking him out. Then moves around a corner, a villager asks if she is ok, and after getting the answer of yes the villagers head under cover.
Salvator steps around the corner to cast bolts at several Red Store, managing to take out one and stun another.
Larissa moves back around the corner and cast a bolt at the last one, taking him out.

The archers on the rooftops attempt to shoot at Kassegore or myself, but just get the rocks instead. Kassegore continues swimming.

Larissa moves forwards the building we were meeting and casts armor on herself. Salvator moves up towards Larissa and casts deflection.

Those archers move together and one calls out, “There’s something in the water! And it’s pulling the Aevakar!” Another shouts out “What?!? There’s an Aevakar in the water?”

Salvator moves forward saying, “You don’t have to worry about the water, you should worry about me.”
A crossbowman asks, “Who are you?”
Salvator answers, “Zebadiah Stone” Then he casts bolt and takes out two crossbowman.

Kassegore lets me float up to the top, out of danger. I crawl out of the water and shoot at a crossbowman. Larissa cast a drying spell on me and everything is gotten. _I think I will have to learn that! _ Then Larissa moves closer to the fight.

A Red Store runs up to Larissa and attempts to hit her. Larissa makes a smart-aleck remark that causes the Red Store to say, “That is not language fit for an Elvin lady.”
Larissa: “Like I care.”
Red Store: “Well you will care when this steel is in your mouth!” Then attempts to hit Larissa with his sword. When it misses, Larissa says, “It looks like you missed.”

Salvator and Larissa have a brief look, like some sort of magic has happened in the area.

A Red Store moves backwards to get a better shot. The one in front of Larissa, got angry and gets a good smack on her, causing a really bad wound. Another reloads the crossbow and then attempts to shoot me, and another runs to Salvator and attempts to hit him.

There is the sound of a door opening, some shouting before the door slams shut. I fly over to Larissa, managing to get in between her and the Red Store, and shove a healing potion down her throat. Salvator notices the zombies coming towards us. He then smacks the crossbowman, taking out the Red Store, before coming over to Larissa to heal her saying, “That is no way to treat a lady.”
Larissa then recovers from the wound and stabs the one that hit her, glancing off the helmet. Salvator attempts to smite the one in front of us. Kassegore gets out of the water and into a warehouse. Looking out the open door he then snarls at the zombies.

There is a shout of “Get out of here you beast!” Followed by the sound of a bolt being cast and Kassegore snarling in pain. And another shout of, “Go tell the masters!”

A Red Store reloads and manages to hit me with a crossbow bolt, stunning me. Another takes a swing at Salvator to seriously wound him.

I manage to throw off the bolt and then pour a healing potion down Salvator’s throat, before seeing what Kassegore got himself into. As I land in the warehouse, a caster says “Oh good, a false angel.” I also see that the Beast has come out to play.

Four zombies move towards the Beast and myself, one attempts to hit me and the other three attempt to hit the Beast. The other four zombies move towards Salvator and Larissa.

Larissa casts three bolts, takes out two Red Store and stuns another before moving behind Salvator. Salvator smites the swordsman, taking him out then does with the light thing, taking out a zombie and stunning two others. The Beast moves towards the caster, and goes wild. There are two swings that miss and then between the tail and the head butt, the caster goes down. At the same time, so do all of the zombies.

Once we get Kassegore back, I shove a healing potion down his throat. And then start to yell at him with gestures. Kassegore seems to get the gist of what I am attempting to yell at him as he starts to yell back at me. After a few minutes of this, I forgot and attempt to use my voice again to yell at him, nose to nose, although he is doing a good job at knowing what to say back to me. Salvator and Larissa come into the warehouse sometime during this and Larissa states, “Let me translate for you. Hey you dumb ass, what were you thinking?” After a few more minutes of yelling, we head to the tavern.

The bartender is happy that all of the Red Store is gone and is willing to give us some information. I patch us up to be ready for more fighting. As Zebadiah talks to the bartender that the Rangers are allowing him to operate due to the fact that he takes out the Red Store for them, I make the universal gestures to move the conversation along. The bartender doesn’t have much information, he sends us over to the brothel and to more from the lady there. We head over there and find out that the Red Store was having a boat deliver something to an island in the distance.

As we have some time, we make a plan to ambush the ship that will be coming. Kassegore is in the water and I am in the air when it comes in. Salvator doesn’t care what happens to the Red Store, but nothing should happen to the ship’s crew. After Kassegore and I get rid of the Red Store, the captain is very willing to help out. We find that the Red Store was delivering another machine to the island, but this one has the crystals perverted. Salvator decides to send one to Grak in Sog. Kassegore manages to get a purely mechanical piece off the machine and toss it overboard.

The captain tells us that it will be the next day before we can sail again.

Recovery and Travel, Dark Moons 13th

Through Meditation and the carving of the last of the Everwood from my Flute-Staff into small animals for the children, I have rested and the silver glimmer has faded and left my fur normal, mostly. It is embarrassing that many people are treating me with awe and reverence, despite my assurances that I am just a normal Brinchie and no more important in the great scheme of things than they are. At least the children still enjoy my stories, fables, games, and flute playing. They understand that they are special to me and their loved ones. I decided to travel finish my travels and continue to Eon’Votuh, for a few lengths of the journey I have company. I still must complete my first life-quest, to find out who I am and who my family is. The travel is remarkably easy and I seem to be slowed down only by the number of villages that wish to “honor” me by throwing a party or impromptu festival. Luckily, I have mastered the art of going on my way prior to the conclusion of the party at a time when many are distracted.

Shutting the Door on the Chimera Witch Queen, White River, 33rd

Felosia turned up when we found the Chimera Queen’s tower as it was being built. A base camp was set up and all the rangers in the area were gathered to fight the evil forces. I struck out

I have finally done the Masters Proud, I believe. We found the location of the Chimera Queen’s Tower as she was corrupting and building it with aid of her alien monster and the Builders. An assault was had and we co-originated our attacks. I struck out in melee on the ground forces going from one battle to another, feeling energized as I never have before. We were on the side of right fighting a very tangible corruption of our world. Many unnatural things were sent after us, we on the side of Good and of Shaintar fighting under the gaze of the Silver Unicorn. Felosia and Shayline both worked on purifying the magic of the area. There was a crystal spire growing of the ground. In the end the fighters on the ground formed a battle wedge with a heroic Ogre in the center, me on his back deflecting arrows and others protecting his flanks. We burst through the lines and kept going to the tower base. Forgive me but I remember not the Brave Ogre’s name but he flung me as high as he could up the tower. I used my Flute-Staff and my hard won agility to climb up the long tower as the others assaulted it’s base and underpinnings, weakening it. As I was getting to the top and getting very hard to breath, I was inspired by the Silver Unicorn Celesia and all the people that helped us to call out as I struck the top of the corrupted crystal tower, “By Celesia the Silver Unicorn and the People of Shaintar, BEGONE!” I am not sure why. I am not prone to such dramatics or think that I represent all of Shaintar in this manner. I have been told that I am Chosen of the Horn (which is that I am one of Celesia’s warriors). I simply fight for what is right, as the master’s have instructed and wish for harmony of life and peace to be common. I truly do not to be one that harms others but is a force of good in the world.
There was so much going on in the battle and I am sure that I am leaving out others tales and the assistance of others that I feel shamed in writing of my own glory. I don’t see it as glory. I see it as the delivery of good and justice and preservation of life that all present on that field had undoubtedly contributed more to the tower’s fall and the denying of our land to an alien entity such as the Chimera than I have. I do not remember anything after striking my staff on the tower at it’s apex as the magical blast had knocked me unconscious. I was told that I fell and a group of Aevakar were kind enough to catch me and that it was even a few days later that we were discovered. It took nearly a week to regain consciousness. The healers tell me that I will recover, I have had so many visitors that it is a blur of people that is more tiring than ever, at least until the healer’s demanded that I have a few days rest. When I awoke I discovered that my fur had also taken on a silvery white sheen that practically glows. The people of Magic have assured me that this to shall pass as it is simply magical residue and not to worry about it. If I were one to think that items of power take on thoughts and minds, I would say that my Flute-Staff has become smug and proud of itself. They told me that it would not be separated from me and that a part of my soul is in it now.
I really wish that I could remember all who helped and all who were the heroes of this battle but much of the battle is a blur.

Evil knocks on Shaintar’s Door, White River 29th

I was asked by the Grey Rangers to investigate with a group of others, many others, to look into the doings of the Red Store and strange alien creatures that are showing up.
We were going to visit an outpost that some mercenaries that have been hired by the Grey Rangers to keep as the Rangers were spread thin searching for the Chimera in the area around Korg Humps. After some discussion it was determined that Zebidia Stone (Salvator’s Other Self) would approach and gain supplies. If they took him captive then they were with the Red Store (the temporary minions of the Chimera). They ended up taking him “Captive” and escorted him in to see their boss. We stormed the gate at this time. Mistress Druid Felosia used her tunneling magic to bring us to the door of the fort. Me and another Brinchie, an attractive female named Puck, used our natural agility and aided each other up the wall and opened the gate. When the gate was opened Felosia’s two wolves rushed in as well as others of our group took the guards and a Druid High Priest Druid of the Silver Unicorn- Shailen earthwalked in and aided Zebidia as did his wife (I didn’t know that he was married, I must remember to congratulate him.) and aided. Shailen was able to wal through the stone as if it was air, I thought she was a spirit at first and begged her pardon as I verified her physicality. She took no note of my extreme rudeness, the masters would be disappointed in me. By the time I was able to enter the fray, I had only a few opponents and most of the guards were all cordoned off with the 3 wolves that were aiding, two were Felosia’s and another was Shailen’s. While the rest were interrogating, I tied up the guards, accepting their surrender and sat down to play my flute-staff while wiser minds than mine determined what to do next. We ended up going into the basement and battled the leaders. Felosia charged into a room with some Builder’s as the were whisked away. I know not where. I needed to comfort his 2 wolves while she was gone. My feeling is that she will turn up as she is of brave heart and will not go down without a fight. There were other things that happened but it’s been so eventful of a time that it is beginning to blur together as we get less and less sleep and we are battling the Chimera’s forces more and more. I believe that I still accorded my self satisfactorily and with some honor. Though my memory is still a bit fuzzy from my next encounter.

Where Are Salvator and Kassegore Going?
Maybe I Should Stop Hitting Kassegore's Snout.

27th of White River

I have been following Salvator and Kassegore out of Sog for a while. There have been rumors of the chimera growing quickly and that there is a lady called Chimera. She is making all sorts of creatures. They have made their way to the Southern Kingdoms and now are on a mission to see why the Red Store and the Builders have joined up with her.

They are sent out to Boyce, an area in between Prelg and Berell. The mission is to get the head of the Red Store and to find out what is going on with the Builders. They are joined up with an Eldakar Sorcerer called Gilreth, an Ogre Mage named Gront, an Aevakar Priest of Light called Shanara, an Dregordian Adept named Ragnaros, a Kor-In called Rah-Seal and finally an Eldakar Sorcerer called Larissa.

When the group reaches the town, Kassegore and Gront head into the inn while the rest hang back. The first thing that is noticed is there are no children in this town. I perch so I can hear Kassegore and Salvator. Kassegore and Gront order drinks. Gront casts a spell that makes his drink cold. And the others slowly make their way to the leader of this town, Harold Mathison. Salvator introduces himself as Zebadiah Stone and offers to help with any problems that the town might have.

Harold tells the group that there’s no problems. As Harold and Salvator continue to talk, Rah-Seal casually starts to walk further into town. Salvator points to a rooftop to have Shanara look it out. _ Luckily it’s not my rooftop. _

In the inn, Kassegore is talking to the bartender and is attempting to find where his employer can expand his special services. The bartender informs them that they need no special services. Gront looks tired at this as he states, “We are looking for Red Store.” This exasperates Kassegore, however it does cause the bartender to start to give up information about the Red Store and where the children went.

Kassegore states, “They should be easy to track. Would you like us to take care of that?”
The bartender says, “Yes.”
Kassegore then says, “I’m sorry in advance and I’ll pay for it. Just play along.” Then promptly throws the bartender through the window.

Meanwhile, Salvator is attempting to convince Harold that they can get the children back when two things happen. The first is the bartender crashing through the window and the second is Rah-Seal brings back a knocked out Red Store agent.

Kassegore comes out of the inn and walks up to Harold and says, “This town is ours.” And Rah-Seal says, “Rah-Seal caught Red Cloak!”

Harold looks at the group and then states that the town only knows about five Red Store watching it. Gront asks about the prisoners and others who were captured. Kassegore suggest that the group not be friendly to the townsfolk, so that they aren’t cooperating with the Rangers. The response to that is that the group captured the Red Store in plain sight.

Rah-Seal says, “No we captured him in the wood. Now he is in plain sight.”

Salvator has Kassegore and Gront wake up the Red Store, who is named Shane. Kassegore finds a barrel of water and dunks the prisoner’s head in, then asks, “How long can you humans hold your breath?” Larissa states, “Not very long and not at all when we are unconscious.” Kassegore quickly brings up the prisoner up for air. As Shane is now awake, Salvator starts to question him.

After a few minutes of this, Larissa gets impatient and demands, “Dammit! Where are the kids?”

Shane states that the kids as well as the other Red Store were at the ruins. The Red Store were hired to guard the ruins, although Shane wasn’t high enough to know why.

Shanara is hard to avoid as she is keeping watch. Kassegore threatens to eat Shane, as Salvator attempts to hire him. Shane states that he will not betray either group, but he will lead them close to the ruins.
Gront: “Wise.”
Larissa: “Chicken.”
Gront: “Where?”
Larissa points to Shane and Gront sniffs Shane, then states, “Not smell like one!”
Larissa: “Acting like one.”
Gront then licks Shane and says, “Not taste like Chicken!”

Shane shudders, but still leads the group towards the ruins. When the group is close, Shane stops them and departs to the group saying that he will think about the offer. As he splits off the casters quickly do casting on themselves. Gilreth is covered in purple sparkling stuff. Gront watches the group start to cast armor and then he casts. This is a first for me as ice starts to form around Gront to make a sort of armor. Larissa asks for that armor and Gront casts it on her.

I sneak up to check if Kassegore has his armor potion and he does. I think this threw off Kassegore as he, Rah-Seal, and Ragnaros go looking for lost lambs, for Kassegore looks lost for a bit. The rest of the party heads up to the ruins, as they get close a Red Store calls out, “Its Jebadiea Stone, if we kill him we can get easy money!”

Salvator says, “You can kill me or you can act like an Emissary.” There is talk going back and forth, each side not believing each other.

After a few minutes of this Gilreth gets bored and casts bolt at the barricade. One Red Store falls down dead and the other looks shaken. Shanara moves forward and attempts to shoot the remaining one. Kassegore finally gets it together and finds a hidden one in the trees, charges it and with his Kayakor take the person out.

Larissa finds another hiding one and casts a bolt that takes out the Red Store and knocks his body back, then states “I might be quiet, but I’m deadly.” Rah-Seal finds another and charges, the attack was just enough to knock the guy out.

Salvator moves forward calmly saying, “Anyone else who is still alive and wants to do an introduction, I’m willing to pay.” A Red Store pops out of hiding, right at Salvator’s elbow and says “How much?” Salvator replies, “Let’s finish with your friends first.” Gront casts entangle on a Red Store, this entangle is made of ice.

A Red Store that is hiding, shoots the Red Store whom is being greedy to shake him. Another Red Store books it out of the area.

Ragnaros moves forward to the running one as Rah-Seal move towards the one that shot the greedy one. Gront starts to chip out the entangled one. Salvator helps the greedy one up and attempts to show concern. Kassegore moves towards the party and Gilreth heads to the unconscious one to tie him up.

The running Red Store attempts to get away, but Shanara, Rah-Seal and Ragnaros bring him back to the group.

Salvator give the captured Red Store a chance to join his side, and they decline, so Salvator has them tied up and knocked out.
Ragnaros, Gilreth, Shanara, and Salvator again cast armor and some deflection on the party before heading down to the ruins. Having Kassegore and Ragnaros sneaking forward. The Red Store doesn’t seem to like this group at all as they start to yell “Kill them!!”

Ragnaros moves closer to the ruins and the Beast comes out to play, attempting to tail slap one. The Kayakor takes out another and the head butt takes out one more. Rah-Seal moves up and does a glancing blow to the standing one.

An Enforcer comes out and decides to play with the Beast, although he seems to have an issue when the Beast snarls at him as this caused him to kill an underling. Their archers attempt to hit our group, although an arrow skittered off Salvator’s armor. There is a quick snarl from the Beast and then his eyes go blank for a brief moment before coming back. I think that someone might have attempted to puppeteed him.

Larissa casts bolt at an archer and shakes him. Gront moves forward and hits the leader saying, “Tag your it.” Then casts entangle on him. Once again ice forms around Gront’s target, then calls out, “Got him!”
Salvator replies, “Knock him out!” Then Salvator casts bolt at the one who shot at him, taking him out. Gilreth casts bolt at another one for no apparent damage. Shanara cast bolt at the same one Gilreth did, wounding it badly.

The archers attempt to hit the group and miss again.

Ragnaros seems to lose it and takes out the one in front of him and then moves up to an archer tail slapping it to shake the archer. Salvator casts bolt on the Enforcer to wound it. Shanara casts bolt to take it out. Rh-Seal swings but does no damage. Larissa moves forward and casts bolt and takes out an archer.

The soldiers give up and Kassegore knocks out the Adept. Salvator searches and finds all of the children. Shanara hands out food, after tying up all the prisoners, Kassegore comes in and suggests that the children close their eyes as they are lead out. The group takes the children home.

Once back in the village, Salvator and Kassegore go into the room that they have put the prisoners in. Kassegore grabs a prisoner, saying, “My belly aches, let’s go see the chief.” The prisoner screams as Kassegore leads him out. Salvator calmly waits in the room. After a few minutes then Kassegore brings Gront in to the room. Kassegore states, “My friend is also hungry!” Gront smells each of the prisoners, then selects one and pull him screaming from the room.

This tactic seems to break the prisoners, really quickly. The Red Store tells them were the other captured people were sent and that they were being used as a sacrifice to give someone/thing energy.

The next morning the group heads out. Kassegore asks what the plan is from here and Salvator replies, “As they are doing human sacrifice they don’t leave the area alive. They come to a set of stairs and Kassegore and Gront take the lead. Gilreth and Larissa follow, with Shanara, Salvator and Rah-Seal taking the end. Shortly after Kassegore and Gront get down the stairs, they set off an alarm.

A Slug-bat spits at Gront shaking him. Larissa moves forward and casts bolt at one of the Slug-bats and stuns it. Kassegore moves forward and with his Kayakor takes out two bats and attempts to get a third with a tail slap. Shanara moves up and shoots the one Kassegore missed, takes it out. Kassegore states that there should be a larger one, then pears around the corner. Gront moves forward and so does Salvator. Salvator, seeing two Maggot-Hounds, calls out “Kassegore, Maggot Hounds!”

Ragnaros, Larissa and Rah-Seal move forward. Kassegore move up to the Maggot Hounds and takes out both of them. As they fall he notices a Rat-taur. As the others get to Kassegore, he stops them to point out the Rat-taur.

Several Builders move into sight. One shoot Rah-Seal to stun her and another does the same to Kassegore. A Builder Golem opens up the door near the party and swings at Kassegore to wound him and get the Beast to come out and play.

Gilreth moves up to the Golem and zaps the Golem for nothing, Salvator casts bolt at the Golem for no apparent damage.

The Golem hits the Beast again, wounding again. The Beast snarls and returns the favor to really damage the Golem. Gilreth then casts Bolt on it to take it down. Ragnaros moves up to the Builders and swings, taking one out. Shanara casts healing on the Beast and other than the tears in his armor you wouldn’t know that he took damage.

Ragnaros is able to hear a thrumming of energy building up. Rah-Seal throws of the hit and then runs up to a Builder. We hear humans screaming.

The Rat-taur moves up to the Beast and the Builders attempt to hit Rah-Seal and Ragnaros.

Salvator moves up to the Beast and casts Deflection on him, Larissa moves up towards the Beast and Gront moves up to Salvator and casts Armor that is ice. The four of them quickly take out the Rat-taur, and then the Builders.

The group finds the remains of those that were captured and another golem that was sending energy to the North. Kassegore starts to dismantle the golem, as he reaches for a piece that will make the machine explode I fly down and smack his snout. As Kassegore starts to snarl at me, I mime an explosion and Kassegore indicates that I should help get this golem off-line.

I will have to remember to thank Magpie for the pointers of what not to pull on a Builder golem.

A Day by the Sea
Almost Universal Languages

The seaside village seemed much like all the others they had passed through. The circuitous path through the Southlands had been mostly uneventful interrupted only by the occasional clash with Red Store mercenaries and the little villages and small towns where he conducted his business. It had been surprisingly easy to root out enemy enclaves. When they entered a new town he declared it territory of Zebadiah Stone, thrashed any who protested, and killed any Red Store agents who showed up to dispute the claim. Once that was finished it negotiating for supplies was simple enough and townsfolk and tradesmen seemed to be happy enough he was giving them fair price instead of just taking what he wanted. Stone’s enforcer was developing a reputation of being a fair business lizard, as long as you didn’t ask what his business was.

Kassegore took a moment to look up at the sun bathing the world in blessed heat. After months in the brutal grip of a northern winter he reveled in the blessed heat of the Southlands in a way no mammal could truly appreciate. Information on the Chimera’s operations still remained sparse. Eventually that would change and once they dispatched with the witch he would return to Sog but in the meantime he was enjoying the weather.
The flapping of wings heralded Nightingale’s return. She wrote out a note indicating guards stationed outside of a building that looked to be a tavern on the far side of town but no definitive sign of the Red Store.

Kassegore looked over at his companions. “I will take the guards from the water and meet you at the tavern.”

Without another word he ran and leapt off a short cliff, diving into the sea. Several feet beneath the surface the refracted sunlight passed over his scales and glinted off the kayakor strapped to his back as he swam towards the village. Sinuous movements drove him forward and past schools of startled fish.

It was several minutes and he estimated he was past half the town when a large splash in front of him halted his progress. He bared his fangs in preparation but sensed the thrashing movements were like that of prey in distress. Seconds passed like minutes as the bubbles cleared and his alertness turned to confusion as he looked upon Nightingale. She wriggled all six limbs in a jerky, uncoordinated fashion and left no doubt she could not swim.

The scene would have been funny if her life were currently not in peril.

What in Illiana’s name was the aevakar doing here? He could not decide if his fellow Ranger’s frantic expression was due to its current situation or if the threat above was truly so dire. After another few seconds of deliberation he decided it mattered little. In a single smooth motion he arced to bring himself closer to Nightingale and presented his back to her.

Once she latched onto him, Kassegore rushed to what he presumed was safety on the other side of the tributary he had passed that divided the village. He shook her off once they got to water shallow enough for her to stand. If she drowned here there was no saving her and he already did what he could.

Upon returning to the approximate place his initial advance was halted he rose to the surface and looked around. The sounds and shouts of combat were faint but audible above the noise of the waves. An open warehouse loomed above him and he took it as a good a place as any to emerge.

The warehouse was a scene of slaughter. Blood splattered the walls and floor and he recognized the sigils marked on the floor as necromantic. He moved to look out an open door and saw bodies stacked like cordwood and several zombies shambling away down the alley the warehouse entrance opened into. Though Salvator could easily handle the paltry number of undead he did not know what forces his allies already faced.

His roar of challenge caught the attention of the undead and they turned to face the new threat but a previously closed door slammed open and a necromancer stepped out along with the largest slug-bat he had ever seen. The chimeric creature had a wingspan easily the length of his arm and the caustic slime that was the trademark of its kind burned little holes in the wooden floor where it landed.

“Go,” the necromancer hissed to the slug-bat, “Tell the others the shipment will arrive soon.”

The slug-bat flew past him just out of reach and out to sea. Kassegore had no time to pay it any more attention as the chanting demanded his focus. Even without the use of magic he could feel the dark energy gathering. His foe shrieked as a bolt of darkness was unleashed. It slammed into him and almost brought the dregordian to his knees as the decaying energy worked through his flesh and soul.

The dregordian’s shriek of pain deepened into another roar as his conscious mind retreated under the assault. The wooden planks cracked as Kassegore planted his kayakor to steady himself but it was the Beast that stood up. Nightingale flew through the open bay to aid her ally and the zombies rallied to their master but neither barely even rated as a distraction.

The Beast brought up his weapon and surged past the zombies ignoring their futile attempts to drag him down. The necromancer screamed as the vicious upswing struck true and the servant of darkness struggled to hold in his viscera. It made more noises but the Beast paid them no heed as he sliced downwards.

The zombies collapsed without a will to animate them and Kassegore slowed his breathing as he returned to himself. Nightingale disrupted his after battle trance by grabbing his snout and forcibly pouring a potion down his throat. The wounds wrought by the spell knitted themselves though his spirit still felt weary.

He looked at the suspiciously dry aevakar to thank it but held his tongue and wondered it looked so angry. It gestured and by the way it was moving its mouth it probably would have been yelling at him if it weren’t mute. His whole existence ached and he no desire to interpret more alien messages for the moment and tried walking away.

A flurry of wings sprang into view as the aevakar moved to block him. The female refused to be ignored despite the incomprehensible nature of its message and continued its odd behavior. Of course, he mentally sighed, this would be the one trait shared by females of all species.

Salvator and Larissa entered finally and the priest just shrugged helplessly at his questioning look. Larissa took in the scene and explained, “She’s angry at you because you abandoned us and so am I for that matter.”

He did not understand. “But I saved you from drowning,” he told the mute. It did not look the least bit mollified at the fact. “I came back and slew the necromancer!” he shouted in his defense.

“You still abandoned us. Why didn’t you come ashore with Nightingale? We needed your help.” Larissa continued translating through either some obscure magic or language unknown by males.

“Stop helping,” he growled without taking his eyes of the aevakar. “We had a plan for an ambush. You spotted a threat you could not handle and I removed it. Salvator obviously did his job and you all are still alive.”

At Nightingale’s continued silent shouting he concluded there would be no reasoning with it right now. He walked past it and dived back into the water. If it wanted to drown itself continuing to argue he would not be the one to stop it.

An end of a life quest sighted

I have recently discovered that I may actually see an end to my quest. I may have family in Eon’Votuh. I must thank again the wisdom of the Masters back home for this. They have found that I was the sole survivor of a ship wreak as a baby. At a request for more information of the shipping lanes sent to the Masters in Korindia that raised me they sent some Dragordian Deep Divers into the area and a search was made. A nearly buried ship was found. A search of the ships contents had found a royal crest had survived. It was covered in coral but still readable. The masters made rubbings of the crest and sent them along with the story to the Korindian shippers. I didn’t even know that we had people that traveled the shipping lanes and even a community in Eon’Votuh. The crest turned out to be the family crest of the Queen Silverclaw Panta. She had a sister that had a child and both presumed to be dead in a pirate raid that sunk the ship very close to the time that the ship was near Korindia. Their were no recorded survivors from the ship. The same ship was confirmed by the Dregordian Deep Divers as being found with in 30 miles of the last reported location. The timing and everything matches up. It is likely that I am the nephew of Queen Silverclaw. Though, I hardly think that I am royalty. The timing may match up but I do need to gain an audience with her to see if it is true. After some inquires I have discovered that the Queen married the ruler of the land but she herself was not royalty to begin with. So with this information at hand, I sought out Eon’Votuh and took to the road.
Friend Jok-tar came with me on the journey as he was invited to the signing of the Echer’Naught Accords. I was told that he was invited due to being the first “Paper Reporter” and would write about it for the Gobblin Gazette. Sadly, I was not invited and could not gain entry. I was also recruited by the Gray Rangers to head south and check on some rumors of strange creatures. After that I will head to Eon’Votuh and attempt to gain entry to the palace with my requests, hopefully the letters the Master has sent will get there and the Crest itself will prove who I am and lend ironwood to my cause.

Wasn't This Suppose To Be Stealthy?
Why Not The Bridge, We Got The Prison?

Artivan finally figures out that I meant that the man died and then turned in to ash and there was a darkness that came up and attacked me. Artivan tells me that it was the Spirit battling corruption. He quickly checks with Salvator and after a few minutes, Artivan asks to take a look at me & states that I have resisted it.

Artivan and Salvator take time to do Rites for souls not to come back into these bodies, if they were ever brought back. Gudmund starts to look for Dwarf Wright Stuff and Kassegore and I keep watch. During this hour Gudmund finds evidence that the Deniers are actually digging up the dead. Gudmund also finds that this is part of a cave network & that the Deniers were posing as the Inquisition.

We head back and find out that the maps that the others provided or made don’t include the area that had the prison. We settle in for night, several adjustments are made to the disguises and to the cleanliness of the uniforms. I double check that my wings are hidden.

Artivan is frustrated as we don’t know what we will exactly need for the rest of this mission. Gudmund asks Ivan about the servants for the mansion. After a few minutes, Ivan finally understands exactly what Gudmund is asking and say that Gudmund could go in as a servant although he would need to have someone else with him in the lower areas.

Artivan hears the tail end of this and there is confusion for a bit until I point out that Gudmund asked if he would be able to go in as a Dwarf slave and be ok. Ivan tells Artivan that Gudmund would be safe, as long as he was with an officer. Gudmund states that he could be checking for structural flaws in the mansion. Artivan likes this plan, and we shall be using it towards morning, with the cover that he and Gudmund are making sure that the office is sage from infiltration. Artivan starts chuckling at that.
I ask for the correct pronouncement of the passwords. Kassegore says, “Since we don’t want someone to shove a gobbling up my rear.”

Artivan is very confused at this and I respond to Kassegore, “That is only when I attempt to hog-podge a complete sentence!”

Artivan quickly realizing that Kassegore is talking about my hobby of picking up insults has gotten me into several tight spaces, states, “That everyone needs to know the passwords. And stop smiling at me, Kassegore, its creepy!”

Morning comes and we all head back into the sewers towards the office/mansion. Artivan and Gudmund head off and the rest of us stay at the entrance in case things go wrong.

A while later, Artivan and Gudmund come out with Krretss in tow. On the way back we find out that they found the passwords and did the best that they could with the forging of the others. Krretss states that he was on patrol when the Prelacy caught him. I give him a quick hug and say that it’s good to see him. Artivan heals him as Kassegore starts to be happy about another Dregordian being able to embrace his inner beast. Artivan attempts to get Kassegore to realize that Krretss is a Priest of Light. Kassegore responds, “That uses a Kayakor.” Artivan and Kassegore keep going around in this matter for several minutes. I think that Kassegore was making an attempt at humor.
Kassegore and Krretss do a head butt at the end of this confusing conversation. Artivan tells them, “Do not wreak the safe house.”

I inadvertently start whimpering, not realizing I was doing so until Salvator arches an eyebrow at me. I tell him, “I’m not looking forward to the barrage of arrows. It reminds me of Thules and what else happened there.” Salvator nods. I make an effort not to whimper any longer.

The plan quickly changes to having two different groups, each of them bringing in “the Dregordian”. And once we are close to the main prison, then starting the arguments.
We head off, all of us non-Dregordians taking disguise potions. We finally get through to the main prison, after seeing that there are several companies of Prelacy stationed near us. Artivan and Salvator start arguing about who has the true prisoner. We manage to get into a small room and a high ranking officer strives to get the fighting to stop, when Kassegore and Krretss get “loose.” Artivan calls out that they’ve gotten loose as Gudmund pushes Kassegore with his Kayakor. I “kick” Krretss. Kassegore and Krretss start to hiss and do their best impression of smiles.

Kassegore lunges to the leader. A soldier attempts to shoot Kassegore and misses. Kassegore then attempts to Kayakor that one and then attempts to bite and tail slap the leader. Artivan calls out to me, “Soldier close the gate!”

Several soldiers mover forward and there is a lot of calling out of what’s going on. Artivan calls back, “The prisoners have escaped! It’s the Inquisitioners fault!”

The leader locks down the room and then attempts to hit Kassegore. I attempt to “help” and shoot the leader wounding him. The leader looks at me and calls out, “Watch it! Melee only!” I put away the casters and pull out my sword.

Artivan attempts to “hit” Kassegore and gets the leader, wounds with his mace, then calls out “Oi! He’s a whiley one!” Krretss “pushes” Salvator while making Salvator better at fighting. Salvator says, “Yes sir. I hear and obey!” then attacks the leader. Gudmund attempts to “jump on one of the prisoners and lands face down on the ground near the wrench. I run up Kassegore’s tail and attempt to “hit” him and manage to take out the leader.

Gudmund stands up and starts fixing the wrench while screaming, “We need help in here, they took out the captain!” Salvator attempts to “help and manages to stun the soldier. This soldier then starts screaming for help and that there’s a traitor! Artivan calls out, “It’s the Inquisition’s fault, they are attempting to take control of Stoon!”
Several soldiers move forward. Two crossbowmen shoot at Kassegore and miss.

Gudmund has the gate partially open and Kassegore and Krretss dive through the gate. Krretss moves in between the two Crossbowmen and takes them both out, then moves to the others down the hall.

The group of crossbowmen down the hall shoot at Krretss and Kassegore. Three manage to hit Kassegore, stunning him and bringing the Beast out to play. One misses Krretss and one manages to make a hole in his armor.

Artivan heads out of the room and shouts, “Let me show you what Archanon really thinks of you!” Then casts bolt at the group of crossbowmen. One dies, one got stunned and one had no effect. Gudmund takes out the last soldier in the room and then slams out in to a wall yelling for more help. Krretss moves forward and casts armor on Kassegore.

Artivan casts something and then moves in to the courtyard, then casts bolt at soldiers in the yard, managing to take out one and stun the other two. While yelling, “I’m the one you want! I’m the wrath of God you never wanted to meet!” Then takes a swing with his mace, stunning one more. Artivan then calls out, “The courtyard is mine!”
Three soldiers move into the yard. Artivan calls out, “The God you blasphemed sent me!” One then calls out, “Then he will accept you.”

The soldier in the hall shakes of the bolt and three others attempt to hit the Dregordians and fail. Two of the soldiers on the tower manage to stun Artivan and one attempts to shoot a prisoner and misses.

Salvator mixes another disguise potion and makes him look like the leader, then walks out into the hall. Once at Artivan Salvator says, “To follow the truthful God.” While casting deflection on Artivan. This causes several soldiers to become stunned.
The Beast throws off the hit and heads into the courtyard’s other door and attacks the three that are there. The Kayakor stuns the leader and takes out the middle guy.
The last guy attempts to hit the Beast, the leader manages to stun him.

I move to the door way and shoot around the corner, taking out another soldier. Gudmund dives back into the room and starts searching it. I tell him to stay away from the closed gate. Artivan takes out a soldier and shouts to the prisoners in the courtyard, “The way is open, get out!” Artivan then moves further in the courtyard and casts bolt again. This time he takes out the one that was aiming at the courtyard first and then there are the two others on the ground that were there originally. Artivan then casts bolt again, aiming at the other two on the tower. One drops and the other is stunned. The last bolt stuns the leader that ran in moments before. Artivan then calls to the remaining soldier on the tower, “Leave!” and to the leader, “You and me, we are on!”

The Beast shakes off the hit and smacks the leader for nothing and then takes out the other, as the Beast isn’t happy he tail slaps the leader, appearing to do nothing again. Krretss moves into the courtyard and gets up to the leader, who swings at and stuns Krretss. Krretss shakes off the hit and returns the favor, although his swing wounds the leader.

The prisoners start to run away. Salvator shoots a bolt at the three in the hallway and takes them all out. We see several head back further in the prison and then the sound of weapons being discarded quickly.

I head in to the courtyard, pass every one and see a soldier in the room beyond and tell him that he needs to leave and he does.

The last one on the tower shakes off the bolt and starts calling for reinforcements as they have invaded! Gudmund moves forward to unlock the first gate, I manage to make it to the second and realize that I need to wait for the keys. The Beast wounds the leader with a swing and then heads my way.

Artivan runs through the closed door, shattering it, to get to the one screaming. Artivan quickly takes him out and then starts having a shouting conversation with someone else in Camonere. After a bit, the person he was “talking to” casts something and then Artivan looks like Artivan.

Krretss swings and takes out the leader, then heads my way- past the soldier that I told to leave, startling him. The soldier asks if he can join our side.
As we start to look for a way out, we see a sewer grate. The soldier shows us a caster, appears to be a different type, at our questions, he states that he won it in a poker game. After a quick look, I find that the overall weapon is like one of my casters.
We find the goblin and a woman. After the hidden soldiers are pointed out, the goblin asks for Salvator’s mace and then smacks the woman with it. As she falls down, he tells us that she was hired to kill him if he attempted escape.

Artivan turns to the Prelacy forces and says, “All of you are prisoners and if you don’t fuck it up, then you won’t be for long.”

Artivan has Gudmund start making preparations to blow it up, Artivan starts to tell me to take the goblin and go. Kassegore starts an argument about the likeliness of my survival if I were to leave now, he does have a point. I start to fix the potion so that I am not obviously taking a goblin. Artivan is very upset about the fact that his orders are being questioned and says something about no longer being in the Rangers if we continued this way.

After a bit, Artivan allows for all of us to head out through the sewers, but as soon as there is clear sky I am to take off as fast as I can to Sog.

Gudmund blows up the sewer grate, using the teleportation devise. Poor Maggpie Kassegore and Gudmund stay a bit behind to make sure that we can’t be followed. We take all of the survivors. Once we get out in the open, Artivan starts to pick up our Goblin and I am already in the air as Artivan completes the turn to hand him to me. I take off as fast as I can. I hear Artivan call out, “See you in Sog.”

I take a look back at Stoon and see that the prison is no longer there. I push myself as fast as I can. After a bit I seem to have a raven that decides to fly with me. As I reach Sog I find that the raven is actually Blackwing.

Blackwing is very amused as he had started a fire in order to make a distraction and then we cause an explosion. At a last chuckle at that, he takes raven form and heads back to see how much damage we actually did.

I take Knobbily to the Ranger Headquarters, to introduce him to Cairos and to see where his family was and see Nightingale taking a report for Justice.

I send Maggpie out to go let Artivan know that he and Kassegore are reported to have died in the explosion and to get them in to Sog without being seen.

While Artivan's Away
Need Maeve, Really Need Maeve!

We seem to have another free day so many of us take advantage of it, while Artivan is still in Stoon. I see a weird sight as Ta’Or, Gunther, Sheila and Justice head off to do a patrol. I ask Cairos about the cloaks on Sheila and Justice, Cairos states that Artivan has made Justice a Ranger Trainee and Sheila a full Ranger although they both need to wear the cloak while in Sog. Make sense to me as they are doing Ranger work.

I decide that this is a perfect time to make more potions. As I head down to the workshop I see Viscal, it seems as he is telling the story about how he came to be at the Inn and joined us Rangers for the last mission. Rok-tar comes over and tells me that he will tell me later and that I cannot make potions while listening to him.

Maeve states that she will be at the Church of Light learning a few things. Felosia heads off to look for books. Liarra starts to research the Chimera that Sky had mentioned. Muril, an Aevakar, heads off to learn about creatures of Darkness. I think I’m going to have to be on the lookout for the Wing Hunters.

The first potion that I make is a Turtle Tinture for Kassegore. I should have checked to see if he actually brought a potion with him to Stoon. Oh well.

I head up to grab a drink and hear Rok-tar’s brother, Jok-tar, attempting to get an official post route. It looks like he’s competing with Viscal’s tale. I catch a quick glimpse of Genny (Kassegore’s assistant in crime) with a Ranger Trainee’s cloak on as he’s squiring about on some mischief that Kassegore has put forth.

As I start to head back I hear that Viscal has started the part about his branding, I don’t wait to see if the few Goblins and Orcs are going to start a fight or not and head down to make an Arcane Shield potion. Then slip upstairs to grab a snack.

Viscal is still telling his story, although I’m not sure what the mines have to do with it. Oh well, I will ask Rok-tar later. I hear the crowd heckling this story, at least they haven’t started a fight. I see Genny attempting to forge some interesting documents for the Prelacy. As I head back down I hear the crowd call for Viscal to really earn his freedom and Jok-tar start singing in order to convince others to put resources and time into his venture and I see Felosia and Cairos talking together. Felosia doesn’t look to happy at what Cairos is telling her.

I make a Darkness potion, then head up for lunch. I’m glad that Rok-tar isn’t down here with me, he’d be concern about the number of breaks that I’m taking. That might be the reason that none of my potions have ever exploded. As I grab lunch and head up to my usual perch, I see Genny and Viscal talking together. From the small bit I was able to overhear, Genny would like to have Viscal help him convincing a Prelacy member that they were helping. I turned away from that as I didn’t want to know any more of this plan.

I manage to quickly make a second Turtle Tinture and head up for another drink, then find that Viscal has gone hunting for armor. Maeve is still researching, although its something new and Jok-tar seems to be using this time to just have a good time. Felosia and Muril come into the Inn and it looks as Muril is attempting to show Felosia something. Jok-tar shouts at Felosia about following in his brother’s footsteps to become a Ranger. Felosia grants him a Ranger Trainee cloak and tells him to tell Cairos to find him one.

Liarra starts to research the Prelacy and Maeve is still doing something at the church. I figure that I have time for one more potion before the end of the day and head down to make a Healing potion. After I have finished, I find that Muril has pushed Felosia into another female in order to attempt to get Felosia to have a conversation. Jok-tar has started to pull people out of their shells and is attempting to get them to have a wonderful time.
Muril then takes Felosia to a woods-woman and they start talking about survival stuff and Cairos’ training session.

Justice sticks her nose in and I hop down to say help. She image-asks for Maeve. I let her know that Maeve is at the Church. Justice then asks for my help. I nod. Gunther and Sheila walk in, Sheila looks wounded. Gunther stops near Felosia and says, “I like your wolf.” Felosia smiles and then casts healing on Sheila. Liarra brings in a Sage named Master Vadirmere and continues her conversation with him.

Justice then has me walk with her to Headquarters to write down her report of what they found on patrol. The fast moving images almost made me sick.

Justice’s Report

The patrol started off find, but soon the group started hearing whining and sounds of distress. “I” race ahead and find the Red Store are attacking a man and then “I” send this to the others.

Sheila sneaks forward and casts something that causes a Crossbowman to scream.
Ta’Or moves up.

The screaming one seems to be stunned by whatever Sheila has done. Two others move towards Ta’Or. As they move near “me”, “I” attempts to kick one. One Crossbowman shoots his partner dead, the other shoot Ta’Or just stunning him. A different Crossbowman attempts to hurt “me”, but the arrow skitters off of ‘my” barding.

Gunther shoots the one on Ta’Or and stuns him. Further down the road is more screaming.
Ta’Or manages to hear the sound of Ratson, Sheila smells the Childer and “I” was able to hear the Ratson and the Minotaur.

A few Ratson, covered in blood and gore, run towards the group. A Crossbowman attempts again to wound “me”, one shoots in Gunther’s general direction, another attempts to shoot Ta’Or. The Crossbowman that Sheila surprised, finally shakes off the effect and attempts to hide.

Sheila sneaks up on the same one and attacks taking him out, then sees the Minotaur. “I” jump over the Crossbowman nearest “me”, as “I” do the Crossbowman attempts to wound “me” again, and “I” head to the Ratson to sweep them all out of existence and continue towards the screams. “I” see more Ratson, the Minotaur, several more Red Store and one of them has a control bracer. Gunther shoots the one who shot at him, with authority, taking him out. Ta’Or shakes off the stun and runs towards the hiding Crossbowman, using the Crossbowman one near him as a launching post. That Crossbowman falls down dead. And then Ta’Or continues towards the Minotaur and Ratson.

Gunther moves forward towards the last Crossbowman, again shooting with authority, takes him out. Ta’Or moves forward to the Minotaur as he gets close, he sees the other Red Store and more Ratson, Ta’Or attempts to do a running back kick to the face of the Minotaur but manages to follow the faint with smacking the Minotaur with his staff, seeming to do no damage.

The Minotaur then smacks Ta’Or, mostly stunning and making Ta’Or bleed.

“I” move forward and upon seeing the one with the bracer and charges that one specifically. As “I” do so the Red Store states, “That damned horse.” And then attempts to shoot “me”. “I” then attempts to chomp the braces to find out that it has a field around it. Then “I” stomp on the guy, destroying the control bracer. “I” then sends an image to all of the Ratson; the image is of the guy who was controlling them with big arrows pointing at him.
The Ratson at this point flee. The leader shoots “me” managing to stun “me” and then puppets her to go attack the Minotaur.

There are several minutes of confusion as Justice seems to be horrified that she couldn’t control her own actions. The images are very confusing and I get the feeling of frustration as Justice can’t quite convey this correctly through her images.

Shelia moves forward and casts so she can do a faraway bite on the Minotaur for no effect. Ta’Or manages to shake off the stun and smacks the Minotaur with his staff wounding and stunning the Minotaur. Then turns around and does a second hit to the Minotaur taking it out. Gunther moves forward and shoots a Crossbowman damaging the uniform. Ta’Or shouts over his shoulder, “I want to say tanks for the mortar support!”

Sheila runs forward, using “me” as a launching post, attempts to bite the leader. The leader then tells “me” to take out the wolf. “I” shake off the hit and as slowly as “I” can, “I” move toward Shelia.

A Crossbowman attacks Sheila and wounds her, the other one shoots at Ta’Or. The leader seemed to change his mind as he then mounts “me” and tells “me”, “You will get me out of here in the fastest way possible.”

Ta’Or moves forward to the leader and shoves him off of Justice, then attacks for a wound. This causes the leader to lose his deflection and control of “me”. Shelia shakes off the hit.
The leader shakes of the hit and starts floating up, while attempting to shove dirt up “my” nose. As the leader attempts to right himself; Ta’Or , Sheila and “I” all attack at the same time, taking him out.

Gunther shoots one of the two remaining Red Store dead and the last one drops his weapons while saying “Right then, I give up.”

The prisoner gives up the information that yes the Red Store is once again active in the region. Although they have not aligned themselves with the Prelacy, they are here to create as much Chaos as they can.

Viscal’s Story

About two months back the Prelacy started invading the town. He was wondering around when he came across a patrol of nine. He pondered taking them out, even though it was too much for him to safely take out. As he’s pondering this, the second in command walks up behind the leader and slits his throat. A fight quickly ensues, at the end those that were following the second in command were the winners. As the remaining ones started talking Viscal sneaked closer and heard that they were going to blame this attack on the Orcs. So even if he took out the rest or left them alive this would be blamed on Orcs, so Viscal let them be because the Prelacy was going to destroy themselves.

Viscal then loots the bodies and wonders around for a bit more. He has a friend that is an innkeeper that hides his weapon before turning himself in and for his troubles gets labeled as a collaborator. As he is thrown out of the office, after being branded, he sees that the second in command has been elevated to a leader. This person then decides to kill a fourteen year old right in front of him. Viscal then attempts to kill the leader and is quickly stopped and thrown into a mine.

The mine that he was thrown in to was one that was of high quality and had a low quota. So he and three others make a bad plan in order to get out of there. One knew about all of the patrols and knew the best time and place for this to work. Two of them get a soldier each and take them to a location allowing the other two to sneak out. After a while the two that stayed behind were to catch up at a certain spot. As Viscal and one other start to the meeting point, they come upon a patrol that wasn’t supposed to be there. Viscal was the only one who walked out of that encounter.

Viscal headed back to the Inn with a burning need to make things right and managed to get a drink, the first one in two weeks. That is where he met the group of Rangers.

Yes! Finally A Mission!
New People!

33rd White Stag

I head in to go pout to Cairos that once again I have been left out of a mission. Felosia and Maeve have gone out to a settlement to the North and won’t be back for several days. As I sneak in, I hear Cairos ranting about being left in charge and I smile. After a few minutes he is aware of my presence and starts complaining louder so I can hear.

A raven comes up to the window ledge and Cairos stops mid-rant and demands to know, “What now?” I am confused for a brief moment. Then the raven changes into a man and informs us that there is another mission to be done. For the Goblin that Artivan, Sky, Magpie, Kassegore and a few others went on, will not succeed unless we can free the Goblin’s family. Cairos introduces me to this new person as Darkwing. After some discussion it is decided that I will take a note to Artivan informing him of this decision. Darkwing takes off in raven form.

We grab a few others as Cairos hands me the letter and tells me that we shall talk when I get back. I smile back at him.

Gunther, Muril, Bertrand, Ta-Or, Vincint, Vhen and I head out to Stoon. We do manage to sneak by the patrols and get to the gates without any incidents. I manage to sneak in using the directions that Blackwing gave to Cairos and head towards the safe-house that Artivan and the others should be at. I get in without a problem and hand Artivan the note.

Artivan doesn’t seem too happy with the note, and as Artivan starts to talk about the fact that most of the ranking Rangers are on other missions, I realize why.

It is decided that Magpie and Hrothgar will be joining the party to go rescue the family, in typical Artivan fashion. Meaning that he pointed at Magpie and said that he and Hrothgar are joining the party to get the family out. At this, we find out that Magpie is the leading ranking Ranger. Magpie looks confused at this and asks Artivan, “What I’m in charge? Anything else I need to know?” Artivan replies with, “Yes! Don’t screw this up! If he doesn’t need to die, assure the Prelacy agent shows up in Sog. Preferably breathing” _Or something close to that, I wasn’t listening as I was attempting to see what Cairos wrote. _

And the three of us head out of Stoon. We meet up with the rest of the party and head North of Urig. There is a Prelacy agent that we are meeting at an Inn that is out of the way, called Bubbling Brook.

Back in Sog, Grak comes into Artivan’s with Liarra, Maeve and Justice in tow. Grak quickly explains that the three of them were transported using some sort of Arcfire thing. Cairos is happy to see them and sends them to catch up with us. Liarra quickly sends a message to Felosia telling her where she and Maeve went. Felosia leaves Cairos in charge till she can get back.

Magpie quickly has us all get into disguises. Vincent as a Prelacy agent with the appropriate papers. Magpie as his slave, dressed as a human. Ta’Or goes as a disgusting looking Vagabond. The last of us are made to look like we are slaves. _ I’m not sure that this is going to work, as I have wings and I have heard from those that have joined us that we are just killed. _

We head into the Inn. A Goblin at the bar runs over and asks if Vincent is “Monseur Vilacort.” Vincent replies that he is and she states that, “Your countryman is waiting in your room. You brought merchandise.”

Vincent and Gunther go into the room to talk about the “Contract.” Magpie puts us “slaves” in a corner of the room where we can keep an eye out.

Ta’Or takes his time to come in, as to make it that we are not all one group. I notice an Orc that is looking at our groups slightly funny. _He might be able to see through the disguises. Just as long as he doesn’t sound an alarm. _

After a few minutes, Magpie moves slightly indicating that he’s seen something out the window. Ta’Or starts moving towards the kitchen and the Goblin screams at him not to go back there. There is a scream from the outside of the room where Gunther and Vincent went into. Magpie draws weapons and throws off the cloak as he flies towards the door. He takes a moment to nod to the Orc, who is looking really confused. The other patrons gasp at the reveling that Magpie is an Aevakar.

The front door opens, and Magpie asks those on the other side, “In whose name are you here?” Magpie gets a crossbow bolt shot at him in response. _The individual on the other end must have been a horrible shot! As it totally missed Magpie. _ One woman slides in and hops on a table, then tells the Goblin running the bar, “Hi Grolshen, thanks for the tip.” The one called Grolshen replies, “I would never!” The woman then says, “We’ll burn this place down and rough you up.”

As I am really tired at all of this chit-chat I attempt to shoot the more talkative of the two. After more screaming from outside, the Prelacy agent steps out of the room, then steps back in saying “Guests first.” Ta’Or goes through the kitchen door and the sounds of fighting start to come from there. Hrothgar cast Jet along the wall. _ I guess that his boast of “I blow things up” wasn’t too far off._ Hrothgar manages to make two Orcs disappear, but most of the others manage to dodge. One screams loudly. _ We find out later that his name is Thork, the second in command of Hrazz’s Hunters. And the talkative woman is Hrazz. _

Thork looks confused for a minute and then says, “No” right before his eyes glass over and he slams his crossbow into another Orc’s face. An Orc falls through the window with a crossbow bolt through his neck and I wave goodbye at him. _It looks as if we have reinforcements. Or someone really doesn’t like these guys. _

The one who has been sitting and watching all of this heads to the fireplace and takes out a white silver Chuktar. He turns around and watches what is going on.

Magpie quickly stabs the two Orcs on either side of Thork, dead, and then kicks over the table that Hrazz was standing on. She quickly stands up and says, “Your wings will get me a lot of money!” Magpie calls out that Hrazz is his and I whistle that I want a piece of her. Magpie seems to understand as he states, “Yes, but MINE!”

There is some loud fighting from the kitchen, I will have to trust Magpie and see what trouble Ta’Or might be in.

Several Orcs shoot at us. One manages to make Magpie actually land. The watching one, decided which side he wanted to be on as he steps up to Hrazz and says, “I always thought there was something about you.” The following attack manages to draw Hrazz’s attention and it looks like Magpie will have some competition.

Hrazz attempts to attack Magpie and the watcher intercepts the blow. That is at least a point in his favor. Magpie states that we can take her alive and I lose the rest as I move head to the kitchen. Vincent comes out of the room and plants his axe firmly in the table and pulls out a metal tube that takes the top half of an Orc off and teaches it to fly.

Gunther steps into the room and shoots Thork through the eye. Magpie shouts, “We need that one alive because I’m killing this one!” The watcher says, “That’s appropriate.” I shoot over Ta’Or’s shoulder to take out one of the Orc’s attacking him. An Orc that was behind him states, “I don’t think I like my life choices.”

Hrazz escapes Magpie and then me as she jumps out a window. Magpie shouts out to catch her. There is then sound of Hrazz screaming and the smell of burnt flesh. And then I hear Vhen say, “Please give up or I will have to speak the language of violence to you.”

Thork does something that causes Hrazz to call out, “What are you doing?” Several Orcs attempt to escape Ta’Or, as Magpie flies out the window and Hrazz surrenders, then Magpie starts to demand all of the knowledge that Hrazz has on the Wing Hunters. Ta’Or tracks the runaways and brings them back.

There is lots of questioning that then happens, as we are joined by Vhen, Liarra, Maeve and Justice. Vhen decides that this is a perfect time to practice his flute playing and I keep watch. I figure that the rest will tell me what they learned.

Several hours later, we head out to the mansion. As we head out, I find that the watcher’s name is Viskalth and he will be joining us for a while. The intelligence that we have gotten include several prisoner rooms; one that has six Goblinesh prisoners, a Dregordian prisoner, and three Elf prisoners. The Commander has an office on the second floor near the prisoner’s rooms, while the Inquisitor and his aide are on the other side of the floor.

Once we get close Ta’Or notices that there is another force was on its way and they have Zombies. We find a hiding spot and wait them out. When we finally get there, Magpie has Vhen scout the South side of the building, Gunther the North, me the West and he takes the East.

I manage to make it to the building and check out all of the windows on my side. The first two windows are dark with no sound coming from them, and the last one, has a light. I get to the shutters and must have made a sound as someone from inside throws them open. I am able to hide behind them for several minutes as whoever it was makes sure that no one is outside. I carefully make my way back to the rest of the group, taking the long way.

Once I make it back, I see that all have returned. Gunther brought scouts for us to question. The group manages to take the scouts. Bertrand says, “I can get something from these guys, loosen them up like.” Magpie asks, “What do you have in mind?” Bertrand replies, “Just treat me like a bastard.” Magpie smiles wickedly and says, “I can do that.” Justice sends everyone an image of Maggot Hounds.

Vincent plays into the plan and takes one of the scouts and starts bashing him against the rock while demanding information. The scout looks terrified at the horse. There is mention of horrible creatures and mechanical/automated abominations. At the antics of my fellow Rangers, I find a vantage point and keep a lookout. It wouldn’t be a good thing to fall over laughing at these tactics.

After Bertrand has snuck over to the scouts and then been pulled away by Magpie several times, we have the password to get the Zombies to not attack us.

The plan is for Magpie and I head towards the side that has the prisoners and get them out as the rest pacify the Zombies and take out the Necromancers.

Vincent and Bertrand run up to the Zombies and give the password. The side guards call out asking where they went off to, while Vincent and Bertrand start calling out that the Rangers are coming from the South and that they needed to let the others know.

Vhen moves up with Magpie and myself. Magpie signs for me to take out the side guard and for Vhen to take out the one in front of the building while he is headed for the Goblins. I nod, as Ta’Or runs around the Zombies and Hrothgar moves forward. Maeve rides forward and gives the Zombies the password, acting like another scout. Viskarth runs right up to the other front guard, while Gunther leans around a corner and shoots the last guard on that side.

Vincent and Bertrand burst through the front door. I hear Bertrand calling out, “Rangers from the North and South! I’m going to get the others!” There is a lot of noise coming from the front room. Vincent moves in with Bertrand, the disguise spell seeming to be working well. Viskalth kills the guard that he ran up to. Gunther grazes the guard, who then turns and says, “Merde!”

Maeve and Justice take out two Zombies. I manage to stun the guard that I was aiming at. Ta’Or does the same to his Zombie. Magpie gets to the window and calms the family down after opening the shutters. They hand him two children. Hrothgar casts bolts and turns a Zombie into goo. Liarra runs forward. Vhen does a flip off of the roof to come down with his staff to the throat of the guard, this crushes the windpipe and we are down one target.

Viskalth goes through a window and there is shouting of pain. Justice moves forward toward the side of the building that Magpie is at. Maeve dismounts and keeps attacking Zombies, before moving inside as well. Hrothgar runs towards Justice. Vhen leaps off of Justice’s back to get into the room where we are rescuing prisoners from, and a rope slides down out of the room.

Zombies move towards Ta’Or as there is lots of shouting in Camonere.

Gunther moves forward and takes out the guard. I move in between Magpie and the guard before shooting again taking him out. Ta’Or cries, “For Korindia!” before jumping over a zombie and then he sweeps the three there – taking them out. Ta’Or then continues to head inside. Liarra runs forward and has a look of concentration on her face.

There are screams of dying, although I don’t hear any of my teammates so we must be winning, and there is more shouting in Camonere.

Magpie lowers the children on to Justice’s back and then heads to the next window and lock-picks it. An Eldakar says, “Thank you winged cousin.” They insist that the lady, who looks worse for wear, go first and they get into defensive positions as Magpie gets her out. The children from the other room go down the rope that Vhen has lowered, and I make sure they don’t fall. Two naked human women come racing out of the front door.

I see Gunther moving towards the front door. And hear Viskalth yelling “Incoming!” and some more yelling in Camonere.

We get the last of the prisoners out as Viskalth starts to scream, “Run! Too Much! Run!”

Magpie looks torn as he makes the decision to take those that were prisoners back to Sog and not clear out this mess.

As we head out, those inside tell us that several Necromancers where enjoying themselves with the human ladies, before our group cut them down. The most enjoyable part was hearing that Bertrand managed to get the Assassin to trust him and as she past him, he slit her throat and used her body as a sled going down the stairs. We were able to get most of the soldiers and Necromancers that were in the main body of the mansion taken out and we are not sure why Viskalth called out for a retreat as no one seems to know what happened to him.
